“I feel better, somehow lighter, I think. I haven’t been able to tell anyone else those things before. It feels easier now I have said them. I feel relieved to have said it out loud. Thank you.”

Our mission is to empower individuals to support themselves, their communities and families as they themselves grow.
For individuals, couples and families looking for psychotherapeutic counselling, we are consistently offer a non-judgemental and genuinely safe space for you to work through life’s difficulties, no matter what your background.
Empowering you to find your way through life’s challenges is one of the offerings at Foxes’ Retreat that brings joy to our team. Those challenges will be different for every one working with us at Foxes’ Retreat. They may be related to historic difficulties, to present issues, they may be connected with your working life, your health, or your personal life, or maybe something entirely different.
We are here to support you on your individual journey. We work with courage, honesty and authenticity.
For neurodivergent clients (diagnosed or not), we offer compassionate affirmation from our own lived experience. With that comes ways to begin navigating the predominantly neurotypical world in ways that can bring enrichment to both ourselves and others.
Our vision is to for Foxes’ Retreat to empower our clients to connect to themselves, and in turn be able to connect to others with compassion, in their communities through a culture of support and resilience as we move to thrive. Myszka takes professional development very seriously, and has post-graduate Trauma Responsive Mindfulness training, as well as post-graduate Bereavement and Loss as a particular interest.
All therapists working through Foxes’ Retreat work to the BACP Code of Practice and their professional standards, along with undertaking regular clinical supervision and ongoing Continuing Professional Development to ensure best practice.
We are always better together.
Myszka on working with neurodivergent individuals and their families:
Through lived experience, and an understanding that the presentation of this condition varies from one person to another, I am able to explore and support your journey both before and after diagnosis, and the rollercoaster of emotions that can unfurl.
There are a range of strategies for neuro-divergents to work with in a neurotypical world, and finding the ones that suit and sit best with each person is a privilege.
Accepting self is the first step.
The old-fashioned view of autism is so far from true - the deep sensitivities of someone autistic can be found in mirror synasthesia and the “beautiful reality of autism”.
The neuro-umbrella now covers autism ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and tourette’s syndrome. Research is showing that the overlaps are significant and many people will have been ‘under-diagnosed’ as having dyslexia, for example, when actually that was a ‘symptom’ that was spotted and the rest was missed in school.
Myszka on working with couples:
Working with each of you in the first instance, and then in sessions together, I am able to explore issues arising and support both of you, as you navigate your journey together.
No two couples are the same. You will have different life experiences and goals to other couples that I work with. Our journey together will be unique to the space we share.
Accepting self is the first step in making good connections with others. This might be part of the work undertaken, depending on what each of you brings to the table.
Please get in touch for a video chat to see if the way I work feels supportive to both of you.

Finding our way through the darkness can be hard without a guiding light
I am a Psychotherapist, working from a Person-Centred base, but I have also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.
I also offer the option of Therapeutic Writing for those clients who wish to use creativity to access their own processes.
These different modalities allow me to draw on a range of approaches for each of you, as suits your needs and situation.
Myszka says,
"My overarching interest is in our processing of deeply held emotions. When we do this, we can allow ourselves to experience the present moment, rather than to be pulled this way or that by triggers from our past experiences.
Difficult things will have happened to each of us, and finding a way to work with ourselves is an attainable goal when done with compassion and support. The therapeutic relationship is where the work happens, that space between therapist and client held with trust and care.
I encourage each client to work at their own pace, to take control of the work with my support. The desired outcome is for each client to feel that they no longer need to see me regularly because they are thriving with their own rudder to guide them. This can take a few sessions or longer, depending on the individual and the work undertaken."
Therapy is individual, not off the peg…
Our service is confidential and sensitive, to support you through life events or circumstances which you may be finding to be challenging. As individuals, we don’t always have a smooth path in life, and counselling can allow us to shift our thinking and find our way through challenging times with support along our route.
We work flexibly to suit individuals’ needs. Myszka has a particular interest in finding individual strategies for clients to better manage the ups and downs in life. Each one of us is different; there is no single one-size-fit-all answer for any of us, but we do work much better together than we do alone; we are all essentially social creatures by nature.
Myszka is happy to arrange a time to discuss the best approach for you to gain a healthier perspective and inner strength to live your life less stressfully. This will be by video call. Please don’t ask for a phone call; Myszka does not do voice calls as it is too hard for both sides to read new people on voice alone, without a visual welcome.

Myszka on working with Lipoedema:
I have personal experience of this disease, and an understanding that the issues around it are not restricted to the physical nature of lipoedema.
Asa a result of my own diagnosis and journey, I can offer a true empathy as someone who has walked this road, often with very great difficulty. I can sit with the dark feelings that this disease can bring.
There are different ways through this experience. I have found some of them. They might not be yours, but my non-judgemental therapeutic experience can support you to make the choices that are best for you.
My choices involved surgery and a non-inflammatory menu, omitting gluten, dairy, potato, corn and refined sugars. Your choices may be different, which I utterly respect. What is right for one of us, does not necessarily work for others.
I am happy to help you explore what is right for you.
